Alex Dawson is a Swedish underwater photographer, cinematographer and technical diver specialising in hidden underwater worlds, from deep shipwrecks, caves and flooded mines to polar waters and scientific expeditions. He was named Underwater Photographer of the Year 2024, is a two-time winner of UPY’s Wrecks category and placed 3rd in Ocean Photographer of the Year’s Adventure category in 2025. His work combines technical diving, exploration, history, conservation and cinematic visual storytelling, often in challenging environments using rebreathers, trimix, DPVs and advanced underwater lighting. Alex has documented projects including Greenland whale bones, Gallipoli heritage wrecks, NIXIE Expedition Buteng 2024 and deep scientific diving. His images and films reach a large international audience across social media and have led to work with brands, broadcasters, expeditions and cultural projects worldwide.
